Office Therapy/QuicDoc Pro - Backing Up using Database Manager

Backing up using the QuicDoc or Office Therapy Database manager 

The following will back up your databases however for best practice management it is recommended to move your databases to an encrypted external drive that is kept in a safe place.  The will assure if anything goes wrong to this PC, you will have the current backup to restore.  It is not guaranteed that your data can be retrieved if anything occurs to your PC.  Please see article QuicDoc Pro\Office Therapy - How do I backup to an external hard drive? 

Also, if you are using a Cloud service (e.g. Dropbox, OneDrive), please make sure they are HIPPA complaint on storing your data.  Please make sure that these Cloud services are setup to backup the Microsoft SQL Server Backup folder.

QuicDoc

A.      Open the QuicDoc DB Manager.


 



B.      Click on Backup Database icon.

 


D.      Click on Refresh next to the server name.


       


E.    Click Refresh next to the database name.  Click Start backup.

 



F.      Database successful message will appear.  Click Ok.

 



G.        Click the ‘x’ when finished.

Office Therapy 

A.      Open the Office Therapy DB Manager.

 



  


         B.      Click on Backup Database icon.

 


       C.      Click on Refresh next to the server name. 

 


 

D.       Click Refresh next to the database name.  Click Start backup.

 


E.      Database successful message will appear.  Click Ok.

 


F.        Repeat steps 3-5 for multiple databases. Click the ‘x’ when finished.

 


  

Backing up to an external drive.


1.       Connect the external hard drive.

2.       Open the QuicDoc & Office Therapy Backups folder. (Can also simply be named Backup.)

            

 

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.DTISQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup

                                                                                                -or-

C:\ Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.DTISQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup

 


 

3.       Select the database and right click.  Click Send to.  Click the external drive.

 


 

4.       Open the directory to the external hard drive to verify it copied over.
