Patients Distracted by Clicks of a Keyboard?

DocuTracAre you among clinicians who find that tracking your notes while in session is distracting to your patients because of the click, click, click of a keyboard? Or maybe you just enter your notes into QuicDoc afterwards to avoid this altogether.

If so, try a silent keyboard. Yes, that's right, silent.

Silent keyboards are designed so that when keys are pressed, no noise can be detected. The keys move silenty as they make contact with the circuitry of the computer, which means no interference during sessions.

There are several companies who offer silent keyboards. With a little research you can determine which brand is best suited to meet your needs.

If you're using a laptop, try a keyboard cover. It not only reduces noise but prevents dust from settling in between the keys as well.

QuicTip: Editing Pick Lists

The pick lists used to generate notes and treatment plans for both QuicDoc Professional and QuicDoc Enterprise, as many of you may know, can be edited. However, we recently spoke to a customer who was not aware of this. So, for those who do not know or just need a refresher, first make sure that you are set up with the correct access that allows you to edit the lists.

Access is set in the Users window by the QuicDoc System Administrator or by someone using the using the administrative logon. Since Clinical Data Lists are global and changes to the lists appear for all users, access to edit lists should be limited to one or maybe just a few individuals.

Once you have access to edit the lists, select Clinical Data Lists from the Setup menu for a complete listing of pick lists. Double click on a list name to open the list. Press F1 to open the Help file.

If you are planning to do extensive editing to one or more of the lists, we suggest that you print the list first, and then decide which items to delete, edit, and/or add. Changes to the lists will appear for all workstations and users on a network.

Some lists can be edited on-the-fly when doing notes by clicking the pick list icon in a clinical note section usually in the upper right corner of the window.

For help in editing lists in QuicDoc Professional see our knowledgebase article or call our Technical Support department at 888-308-9683.

For QuicDoc Enterprise technical support, call 888-206-1270 or visit the Enterprise Portal.
