Office Therapy Users: New Timeline for HCFA 1500 Form 02/12

On January 6, 2014, providers were able to begin submitting the revised HCFA 1500 02/12 form to their payers.  Per the NUCC transition timeline, dual use of both forms is allowed until March 31, 2014. As of April 1, 2014 only the revised HCFA 1500 02/12 form is to be used when submitting to your payers for processing.

Please click here to access the NUCC site for detailed information regarding these changes.

We highly recommend ordering the revised HCFA 1500 02/12 forms so you are prepared when the update is implemented.

Office Therapy will have the revised HCFA 1500 02/12 format ready for the NUCC proposed April 1, 2014 deadline. This format will only be available in Claims Manager 5010 in the newest version of Office Therapy Professional Edition.  All claims, paper and electronic, must be filed through Claims Manager 5010.

If this requires you to update from your current version, please contact our Sales Department at 800-850-8510 for more information.

If you are not currently using Claims Manager 5010, we have several resources available to help you get started. We offer an extensive Help file built into Claims Manager 5010, as well as focused training webinars to show you how to correctly set up providers and generate claims (this applies to paper and electronic filing).

Please visit our Calendar of Events page for dates and information.

Windows XP Support is Ending!

Just a reminder....Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP effective April 8, 2014.

*In 2002 Microsoft introduced its Support Lifecycle policy based on customer feedback to have more transparency and predictability of support for Microsoft products. As per this policy, Microsoft Business and Developer products, including Windows and Office products, receive a minimum of 10 years of support (5 years Mainstream Support and 5 years Extended Support), at the supported service pack level.

Thus, Windows XP SP3 and Office 2003 will go out of support on April 8, 2014. If your organization has not started the migration to a modern desktop, you are late. Based on historical customer deployment data, the average enterprise deployment can take 18 to 32 months from business case through full deployment. To ensure you remain on supported versions of Windows and Office, you should begin your planning and application testing immediately to ensure you deploy before end of support.

DocuTrac will no longer be testing updates and new versions of our software products on these retired operating systems.

QuicDoc Enterprise and Anti-Virus Software

Certain anti-virus software programs can interfere with normal functioning in QuicDoc Enterprise. QuicDoc allows users to read/write and execute programs from within the \QuicDoc folder, however this can create problems for anti-virus applications.

Recently some updates to anti-virus software programs (Sophos, Python, Symantec, etc.) required that QuicDoc Enterprise be whitelisted to run in that AV environment.

If you have been experiencing problems running QuicDoc Enterprise recently, please contact your anti-virus software support department. Chances are good that your anti-virus software is interfering with the proper functioning of QuicDoc.

Attention New York Providers

The I-STOP Act, passed in New York, is the first piece of statewide legislation enacted in order to help combat the rising rates of prescription drug abuse. I-STOP seeks to accomplish this goal through the following initiative: Mandatory queries of state prescription monitoring program (PMP).

All medical providers must query the state prescription monitoring program (PMP) and review a patient's recent medication history prior to writing any prescriptions for Schedule II, III, or IV controlled substances. This will give providers real-time information regarding a patient’s medication history, helping to detect potential drug shoppers and prescription drug abusers.

All prescriptions for legend drugs and Schedule II, III, IV, and V controlled substances must be sent electronically effective March 27, 2015. This will provide greater security measures around potential tampering or fraudulent activity for all prescription drugs.

QuicDoc and DrFirst's EPCS Gold 2.0 is ready for New York.

DrFirst is fully equipped to deploy EPCS Gold SM 2.0, the first-ever fully compliant solution for sending electronic prescriptions of controlled substances, in the state of New York upon enablement by pharmacies, which is anticipated shortly. EPCS Gold 2.0 is fully compliant and secure. EPCS Gold 2.0 meets Surescripts’ controlled drug prescription security requirements, the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) requirements enforced through the Interim Final Rule (IFR), and the Identity Proofing requirements set by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Click here for more information on EPCS Gold or call us at 800-850-8510 for more information.
