E-Prescribing of Controlled Substances

DocuTrac is proud to announce the availability of EPCS Gold 2.0, which allows our customers to safely prescribe legend and schedule II-V drugs electronically through the same workflow, further streamlining the prescription writing process.

EPCS Gold 2.0 builds on the current e-prescribing functionality within our QuicDoc® EMR Professional and Enterprise Edition Software, through our partnership with DrFirst. EPCS Gold is also available as a stand alone product for our Office Therapy® users.

While many physicians nationwide have already adopted e-prescribing, the majority of them are still forced to revert back to paper prescriptions when it comes to controlled substances. EPCS Gold 2.0 will allow our customers to:

  • Eliminate manual signing, calling, or faxing controlled drug prescriptions
  • Apply interaction checks to to reduce potential adverse drug events
  • Control potential tampering, fraud, or illegal trafficking of controlled substances

Currently, over 16,000 pharmacies in 46 states are legally able to accept e-prescriptions for controlled substances, and these numbers continue to grow each month.

Find out if your state allows for the electronic prescribing of controlled substances.

Improve Patient Outcomes, Increase Practice Efficiency and Maximize Cost Savings with Electronic Prescribing!

Electronic prescribing is more than generating a prescription on a computer and printing or faxing it to a pharmacy. E-prescribing must also provide functionality and workflow flexibility to work for both physicians and staff involved in the prescribing process. Over 63% of physicians nationwide are using e-prescribing as of 2012, helping provide a higher level of patient safety and service, streamline back office business systems and save time and money through the efficiency of electronic medication orders, renewals and formulary checking.
